you know who his is, he needs no introduction. Taboo has been down with the SGV since day one, and we think that's pretty fucking cool. He was recently in town to celebrate his son's b-day and invited us along for drinks, food and celebration at Dave & Buster's in the Arcadia mall. the SGV grabbed him for 5 minutes to do a little catching up with our boy Taboo.

SGV: so Tab, whats happened since last time we hung out?
Taboo: We've been traveling alot lately. Places like Singapore, New Zealand, Australia... just making sure that the Black Eyed Peas have a good understanding of what the world is about. Monkey Business has been really successful. We've sold over 5 million units so far within a matter of months, and we're gonna keep working this album for a year or so. who knows we might go Diamond (10 million copies sold).

SGV: You've basically been on tour for 4 years. what do you miss the most about the San Gabriel Valley?
Taboo: Honestly I miss my son. It's like the SGV is more than just a home, it's like a place for me to relax and be free of all the tension of being in the Black Eyed Peas. it's like I can relax and not feel all Hollywood and shit.

SGV: What's your favorite restaurant in the SGV?
Taboo: it would probably have to be Noodle World on Valley Blvd.

SGV:
what do you order there?
Taboo: spicy thai spaghetti, wonton soup, chicken satay.

SGV:
describe life for Taboo in High School.
Taboo: I went to Rosemead High School, class of 93. Basically it was hard growing up because I had a Black girlfriend and everybody was like, "aye holmes, do you think you're Black?". I'd tell them it wasn't about race, it was about love. "but what the fuck holmes, you're fuckin' Mexican!". I always had that stigma back in the day.

SGV:
do you think things have changed?
Taboo: yes.

SGV:
what's the difference between the Taboo that lived in Rosemead 10 years ago, and the new Taboo?
Taboo: (in his best Dave Chapelle voice) I'm rich bitch!!! it went from living at my mom's house to becoming a homeowner and driving a H2 Hummer. I used to drive a busted ass VW Bug with a driver's side door that wouldn't close. it was missing half the windows, no radio, no nothing.

SGV:
what's your advise for kids in the SGV that might want to do something in the music industry?
Taboo: don't let nobody tell you that you can't do it. my family was always, "mijo, you have to go to school". I was like, nah, one of these days I'm gonna make it. I was just persistent. I went against the grain. me being a Mexican kid, it was like, "you can't do Hip Hop, you're not Black".

SGV:
and now what's up?
Taboo: exactly.

SGV:
What are you up to next?
Taboo: more acting for sure. start my non-profit orginazation in Rosemead; the Tab Magnetic School for the Arts.

SGV:
shout outs.
Taboo: shout outs to my son for doing his thing Junior High styles. shout outs to the SGV crew... thanks for supporting since back in the day.

SGV:
when is the SGV tour gonna happen?
Taboo: it'll probably be on a solo thing. I'll solo it by myself... I'll do Rosemead, San Gabriel, Alhambra.
