9.9-10.05 ASR 2005
hate it or love it! being the fans of skateboarding that we are, the SGV decided to take the journey to Daygo to attend the bi annual Action Sports Retail tradeshow. back in the day it was the jump off event for skateboarding, urban fashion, and insane partying. but in recent years it's lost much of it's allure and was starting to look and feel like a burnt out Studio54 for skaters. but dispite all that we still felt like giving it a gander. bunch of fucking nerds.
scrool down to check the evidence.

so fucking hot! Daniel Shimizu can't wait to rock his new SGV Hot Sauce shirt.

a seafood sampler bucket from Rockin' Baja Lobster in the Old Town area of Daygo was the dinner we decided to treat ourselves to. pretty freakin' good ish. we'll be back!

headed back towards downtown to the Hyatt to meet Diamond Nick and bumped into your boy Troy Aikman. I think I heard him mention something about the Nike SB party.

everybody at ASR knows that you're only as fresh as what it is you're wearing. We're about to go to the Nike party and there will be a lot of discerning tastemakers there scanning everyone head to toe. so it took about 20 minutes for Nick to figure out which fitted to wear. my all black Cubs or a red Chocolate fitted with a black bill. descisions, descisions.

the party was star studded on the skateboard tip. (L-R) Jahmal Williams, Alfonzo Rawls, Sal Barbier, and Vinnie Ponte (who happens to be Raekwon's DJ... word)

everytime I see Yoon, he's drunk as fuck. gotta love consistency.

big ups to Nick for getting us into the Nike party. we had no invitations, our gear was so last year, and we're dudes. against all odds Nick came thru like a champ. Free lix and new fitteds are pretty rad, don't you think?

you can always count on Sam Smyth to be rocking a cool ass T-shirt. this one is some rapper from the Yay Area that only Frisco fools know about. that makes it extra cool.

meet the guys behind everyone's new favorite: The Hundreds
(except for nick... you all know who he is by now)

after the Nike party we headed over to Stevie's RBK/DGK party @ the Martini Ranch. Kareem Campbell and Nate Sherwood going ebony and ivory on it. skateboarding... one love.

Eric Stricker is a cool dude to drink with. he doesn't care if I accidentaly spill some Maker's Mark on his kicks... that's rad.

we woke up the next morning a little hungover and a lot hungry. steak and eggs did the trick.

thank you for visiting the ASR in San Diego, now go home and work on your kickflips.
